ABOUT THE CURRENT CHAPTER
Philippians is a a letter written by Paul, whilst in prison, to the Christians in Philippi. In four short chapters, the word "joy" and its various forms were mentioned 16 times!
Joy is "a feeling of great pleasure and happiness." It's what we feel when life is good and things are in order. So what was it that allowed Paul to feel "great pleasure and happiness" despite the unfavourable situation he was in?
As Christians, joy is not just a feeling when things are going well or choosing to see the glass half full all the time. Our joy goes hand in hand with our salvation.
John Piper writes, "Christian joy is a good feeling in the soul, produced by the Holy Spirit, as he causes us to see the beauty of Christ in the word and in the world."
Kay Warren adds, "Joy is the settled assurance that God is in control of all the details in my life, the quiet confidence that ultimately everything is going to be alright, and the determined choice to praise God in every situation."
So whether the sun is shining, wether or not we are healthy or hurting - because our redeemer lives, because we belong to him, and because he is our hope, we can respond with joy and praise him all the same.
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
We love because He first loved us.

Hi, my name is Florence and I run Loved By The Lion.
The "Lion" in the name of my shop is in reference to the lion, Aslan, in C.S. Lewis' novels, The Chronicles of Narnia. Aslan is symbolic of Jesus and I truly believe that we are very loved by Him. The core of Loved By The Lion is deeply rooted in my reverence for God, who is my rock and the foundation of all that I do.
In 2020, I launched my online shop selling polymer clay earrings, handmade by yours truly. I love that each and every single piece sold on here is unique and beautiful in its own ways, kind of like you and I.
YOU being here, reading this right now, means the whole world to me - thank you for supporting small businesses.
From my humble heart to yours, have a blessed day!
"Being nice, humble, and gracious will take you far." -La La Anthony
